LCVP is a Senior Cycle Programme of the Department of Education and Science (DES), designed to give a strong vocational dimension to the Leaving Certificate (established). The programme combines the virtues of academic study with a new and dynamic focus on self-directed learning, enterprise, work and the community.
Loreto Community School taking the LCVP have the opportunity to develop their interpersonal, vocational and technological skills. It is open to all Third Year Students.
LCVP was introduced in 1994 in response to the challenge placed on Ireland’s education system by a changing work and business environment. Loreto Community School first introduced the LCVP course in 1996.
Its primary goal is to prepare young people with a set of transferable skills equally important to further education, employment or self-employment.
To achieve this we use active teaching and learning methodologies to integrate aspects of the vocational subjects within school and in the community.
Typical activities include site visits, invited visitors, team building activities, brainstorming, case studies, group enterprises, work experience, using I.T. and report writing.
The current LCVP Co-ordinator is Ms. Grianne Mc Daid.
